Online Safety Schemes of Work | schemesupport

At Aspire School, our computing lessons are designed to give students a well-rounded digital education, starting with a strong foundation in online safety.

Each lesson begins with a topic from the National Online Safety scheme of work, ensuring that children are equipped with essential knowledge and skills to navigate the digital world responsibly and safely. This focus on online safety is then integrated into our main computing curriculum; we use the Purple Mash scheme of work.

EYFS

For our youngest learners in Reception, we use Mini Mash to introduce them to key concepts in technology through three foundational topics: Exploring Technology, Using Technology, and Selecting Technology with a Purpose. These resources are thoughtfully designed to help the children work towards their early learning goals.

KS1 and KS2

As students move into Key Stage 1 and 2, we build upon these skills through a structured curriculum divided into three main strands: Computer Science, Information Technology, and Digital Literacy. In particular, we take a cross-curricular approach to Digital Literacy, embedding it across subjects such as English, art and design, maths, music and science.

In our Computer Science lessons, students have the opportunity to learn how to create and troubleshoot code. This includes exploring algorithms, debugging, and developing problem-solving skills.

Purple Mash provides  opportunities for differentiation, allowing students to explore topics at their own pace and level. Children have the opportunity to use laptops or iPads, depending on their physical development needs.
